Every year PakWheels.com conducts automobile industry survey to ascertain buying and selling trends, preferences and behaviours. The survey is also conducted to make a year-on-year comparison and analysis of any change or deviation in behaviours, preferences and trends. The survey provides valuable insights for anyone interested in or related to the automobile sector of Pakistan.
According to the results of the PakWheels.com Automobile Industry Survey 2018, 82% of car owners preferred standard fuel and 18% preferred premium fuel. The percentage of car owners preferring standard fuel increased from 77% to 82% from 2017 to 2018. Similarly, the preference for premium fuel declined from 23% to 18% from 2017 to 2018. These changes can be attributed to increasing fuel prices.
In 2018, car owners preferred PSO, Total and Shell the most in both standard and premium fuel categories. The situation was similar in 2017 as well; however, people ranked Shell higher than Total in 2017. The top three aspects on which respondents based their ranking of fuel brands are as follows:
- Quality of fuel
- Located near my residence
- I like the brand
In 2018, 55% of the respondents preferred motor oil from Zic, Shell and Toyota for cars. In 2017, 60% of the respondents preferred motor oil from Zic, Shell and Caltex for cars. In 2018, 28% of the respondents preferred getting motor oil changed from a local retailer.
Coming to bikes, 89% of respondents preferred standard fuel and 11% preferred premium fuel in both 2018 and 2017. PSO, Total and Shell remained the most preferred brands for bikes as well in both 2018 and 2017. Quality of fuel, proximity to residence and liking the brand were also the top three determinants for preferring fuel brands. In the case of bikes, 52% of respondents preferred Zic, Shell and Caltex in both 2017 and 2018. In 2018, 32% of respondents went for a local retailer to get motor oil changed for their bikes.
Considering the stats, preferences for fuel and motor oil more or less remained the same with minor changes.
In Faisalabad Shell filling stations are the most corrupt. Then comes PSO.
