The Punjab government has completed the Shahdara Flyover, and it is now open to public traffic. According to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the project was finished last week and is now completely open for the public to commute. It is pertinent to mention that traffic jams throughout the day at Shahdara Mor were a serious issue for people traveling to Lahore from small cities. It caused regular hassle, air pollution, and mental torture to the public, and the demand for a flyover was quite old.
Shahdara Flyover Construction
As per LDA, the government started working on this mega project in February 2023. The government has constructed two three-lane flyovers over Shahdara Morr, stretching over 850 meters and linking GT Road and N-5.
Around 3-lac vehicles would benefit from the construction of this project, and it will resolve an age-old traffic issue in the city. Lahore, Shahdara, Old Ravi, Kot AbulMalik, Kala Shah Kaku, and areas adjacent to Lahore Ring Road will benefit from this flyover.
Meanwhile, a flyover from Sheikhupura to Ravi River would also be made soon. Furthermore, the government has decided to construct a new bridge over River Ravi, and Piles Testing is underway to build it. As per LDA, the new Ravi Bridge will be completed in the next six months.
“After completion of Ravi, Imamia Colony, and Band Road Bridges, Shahdara will become like Gulberg,” LDA claimed, adding that Imamia Colony Bridge would be opened to the public on December 15. The authority will also start planting trees alongside this flyover to control the issue of pollution. The project will surely benefit thousands of people on a daily basis because it is the main road linking Lahore and Gujranwala.
