Shaheen Force To Be Launched Soon To Control Traffic In Punjab

The government of Punjab is soon launching a new police force “Shaheen” to control traffic in Punjab and Lahore.Punjab Police is in negotiation with Turkish counterparts to create new Shaheen Force to regulate the traffic on roads in emergency situations.Turkish experts would be the part of this new force during initial stages in order to impart knowledge and training to 50 wardens.

The first 50 wardens would demonstrate their skills after completing training from Turkish counterparts, later it will become a specialized force after the final approval from Punjab government.

Four members’  Turkish team attended the meeting held yesterday in Lahore. Traffic SP Muslum Apayidin, City Municipal Planner Bekir Chelen, Project Director Roads Abdul Rehman Evnez and Enigeer Traffic Signals Naeem Karatepe. The team will cooperate with Punjab government to bring in permanent solutions to traffic problems in the province.The Turkish experts said that they would make a working model with the assistance of Lahore police to solve various problems including encroachments, lane violation, beggars mafia and lack of safe and comfortable facilities for pedestrians on roads.

Additional IGP (Special Branch) Faisal Shahkar, CTO Rai Ijaz and DIG (Traffic) Farooq Mazhar represented Punjab in the meeting.
