There is no explanation to the news after the title, this luxurious BMW Z8 was owned by Jobs’ for three years, and the owner is putting it on auction next month at Sotheby’s, New York.
The listing has evidence of the late mastermind’s ownership of the car in form of several service invoices that accompany the car. Along with that is a copy of the California vehicle registration record in Steve Jobs’ name and at his personal residence.

According to the listing, the story is that the iconoclastic CEO of Oracle, Larry Ellison, enthused Steve Jobs to buy the car in 2000 by claiming that the BMW Z8 was the paragon of modern automotive and ergonomics of the time.
The production date on the luxury car is of 1st of April, 2000. The car was delivered to Jobs in October of the same year, about three years after which he sold the car to an individual in Los Angeles. The car has reportedly not changed ownership since then.

In its life of 17 years, Jobs’ BMW Z8 has been driven about 15,200 miles, which averages at even less than a thousand miles per year. The listing at Sotheby’s states that the car is in exemplary condition. Just like many other BMW Z8s, this one is equipped with several accessories. One notorious equipment among the list is the BMW-branded flip phone by Motorola. Jobs reportedly hated that phone. Bear in mind that the iconic ‘JOBS Z8’ license plate was registered by the latter owner, not by Steve Jobs.
Used models of BMW Z8 typically sell at about $165,000-200,000 today. The auction will begin on 6th of December during Sotheby’s “Icons” event. The event itself features other supercars and luxury cars including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Jaguar along with this special one.
