“Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Automatic Should’ve Had CVT” – Owner Review
Today we present the owner’s review of the Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Automatic 2018. The owner of this car is a famous YouTuber named Sami, who featured previously in our review with his Toyota Belta, which he recently sold.
He is sharing his experience with his newly bought car and what he likes and dislikes about it. This is the 11th generation Corolla, launched in 2014 and later got a facelift in 2017. This is the facelifted model and is the mid-spec Altis variant which comes with a 1.6-liter engine producing 120hp and 154Nm of torque which is coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Purchase Decision
As mentioned earlier, the owner previously had a 1.0 liter Toyota Belta. A friend of his had this Corolla in pretty good condition. He drove the car and felt a major difference in the power, so he decided to buy the car from him. Sami really liked the drive and the suspension of the Corolla, so he opted for it. He bought this car for Rs. 32.5 lacs.
Salient Features
The Altis 1.6 has a decent amount of features, including an MID display in the instrument cluster, multimedia steering, 16-inch alloy rims with Yokohama tyres, a 9-inch infotainment screen, etc. Meanwhile, safety features include 2 airbags, ABS brakes, and an immobilizer key.
AC Performance
As per the owner, AC performance is good as with all the Corollas in general, but he thinks that the Belta, which he previously owned, had a much better air conditioning system despite being way older. However, he still feels that the Ac is good and relatively better than the Yaris.
Comfort
The owner feels that the drive is very comfortable, the cabin is spacious, and the suspension proves to be his favourite part about the Corolla, which gives it an edge over Honda, according to him. The suspension is soft and absorbs bumps and potholes with ease.
Fuel Average
He gets a fuel average of 10 to 12 km/l within the city, which he thinks is reasonable, while he gets a maximum fuel average of 15 km/l on highway cruising at a normal speed. Keep in mind that the owner uses hi-octane, so this fuel average can differ from standard fuel.
Missing Features
The owner misses some features in his car, which include a sunroof. At the same time, he also majorly misses a CVT transmission as the 4-speed automatic transmission does not do justice to this engine,” with CVT, the fuel average would have been enhanced,” he added. Both of these features are offered in the top-of-the-line Grande variant.
Pakistan kay liay bani hay, the statement is true and I fully agree with it. Toyota Corolla is the best when it comes to C-segment vehicles, it offers moderate comfort, puts reasonable maintenance cost on the owner and is able to drive over potholes.
