Types of Bikes You Should Not Buy (Pakistan Edition)

Buying a used bike in Pakistan can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re not much into motorcycles and a newbie rider. Here are some bikes that you should avoid buying in Pakistan if you are looking for a used bike from Pakwheels or the market.

CG125 With Unsealed Engine

If you know the owner, maybe your friend, and you know that they used genuine parts during the engine restoration, then go for that unsealed engine. Otherwise, if you are buying from Pakwheels or from the used market, we don’t recommend you buy a used motorcycle with an unsealed engine. Most probably, the owner will be selling that bike because their engine gave up, and they used cheap parts like Crown Lifan type.

If you can manage some budget, go for an unsealed engine or buy the model that needs engine work, but at least it’s unsealed. Our non-genuine parts don’t fit on CG because its engine is highly stressed and produces too much output from a small piston. So, non-genuine parts might end up too early than you can think.

Yamaha YBR 125 With Faulty Wiring Harness

YBR’s wiring is too expensive. Unlike CD, which costs only Rs.6,000, YBR’s genuine wiring harness will cost you at least Rs.23-27k. While we are not saying to don’t buy this kind of YBR, we’re just saying to negotiate accordingly because the wiring harness work of YBR is very expensive.

Especially if it’s an old YBR and its wiring is short, you will most likely need to change the whole wiring. And make sure if any electrical components like headlight, tail light, and indicator, remember YBR’s parts are costly, so you must negotiate accordingly.

Honda CD70 with No Speed-o-Meter and Headlight

Ahh, one-wheelers. Remember, if the bike doesn’t have a speedometer and headlight, it’s a one-wheeler bike.

“If you don’t don’t want to ruin your life, never buy a one-wheeler bike, I repeat, never!”

Such a bike was most likely used by a one-wheeler, and one-wheelers are always abused. You’ll most likely see clutch plate issues, swing arm (chimta) misalignments, rear rim misalignments, and front suspension oil leaks in such bikes.

So, you’d better avoid this kind of bike and find one that a sophisticated person owns.

Suzuki GR 150 with Broken Silencer

Do you know that GR150’s silencer costs Rs.55,000 and has a waiting time of 20 days?

Yes, at that price, you can buy a whole CD70 2018 model.  GR parts are more expensive than Mehran because most of them are imported from Japan, which makes the spare cost skyrocket.  Not just that, if you somehow manage to afford a silencer that costs Rs.55,000, you’ll still have to ride your bike with a broken silencer for 20 days because Suzuki will import on demand for you, which takes 20 days.

Infiniti 150, Just Don’t Buy It

“Never judge a book by its cover.”

It looks cool, glamorous, and superb in style, but inside, it’s just a piece of cheap Chinese. Everything in this bike is subpar; more or less, it’s just United or Road Prince with a bigger engine and good looks. The self-starts give up after 3-5 months, the suspensions are hard as a rock, and the whole bike vibrates like a Chingchi. And still, it will cost you Rs.3.9 lacs.

You better buy a YBR or GS in that price or CB, but don’t buy this cheap Chinese 150.

Never ever purchase Pridor, it should be at the top of this list. Bakwas tareen motorcycle with a hell lot of issues, i.e. cheap plastic, clutch plate issue after every year, slippery back tyre, zero driving pleasure, gear shifting difficulty, rear shocks sound, etc. Go for a used Ybz instead.
