It’s been a while since we heard from Javed Afridi about MG cars. But the source is back on, and we are here with the latest update on MG. Afridi recently had a Q&A session with his Facebook followers, and someone popped the question we all have been asking – “When are locally assembled MG cars coming?” Afridi’s answer: “next month IA.”
Here’s Afridi confirming that the CKD MG cars will be on the roads in July 2022.
Local Assembly of MG HS
About two months ago, Afridi hinted at the launch of locally assembled MG HS with a short video. We saw a clip of Afridi conversing with workers from different backgrounds working on the assembly of the MG HS at the MG assembly plant.
It’s been a long time since MG Motors promised us the locally assembled MG HS Essence (that’s what they are calling it). The company told its customers they would get priority once the bookings for HS Essence were open.
We don’t know much about the upcoming locally assembled edition of the HS, but MG has assured us that there will be no difference between the imported CBU and locally assembled CKD units of the car. The company won’t strip down any features in the locally assembled model.
Same features mean we only have to be worried about the build quality and price of the locally assembled HS. The current price of the CBU MG HS Exclusive is Rs. 89 lacs. Let’s see what happens with the price of the CKD MG HS Essence.
We have also seen a video of the MG EV plant under construction. That means, apart from the CKD assembly of petrol cars, an MG EV plant is also in the works for the local assembly of electric cars.
MG customers have waited so long for this. Finally, MG Motors is working on the local assembly of its cars. Let’s see if it was worth the wait.
