Yaris Beats City, Alsvin & Saga in Safety Features
In the last couple of years, a number of new sedans have launched in the compact and affordable segment. The wave started with the arrival of Toyota Yaris, followed by Changan Alsvin and Proton Saga, while Honda City is still the old one, although the launch of its 6th generation is around the corner. This segment has a vast consumer market due to its affordability. This segment has been long criticized for lack of safety features in the cars; however, these newly launched vehicles have introduced several new safety features in them. All the sedans, as mentioned above, offer different safety options, so let us compare them and understand which one is the safest.
It is pertinent to mention that the comparison is among all the top-of-the-line variants of these cars, meaning its Yaris 1.5L ATIV X CVT, Honda City 1.5L Aspire, Changan Alsvin 1.5L Lumiere and Proton Saga Ace.
Airbags and Seatbelts:
Everyone knows about this feature that only Honda City doesn’t offer any airbags in its car. At the same time, the rest of the sedans have Driver + Passenger airbags, making them equal in this category. Meanwhile, all four have seatbelts in them.
Hill Start Assist:
The tourism industry is growing very rapidly in Pakistan, especially in northern areas. Hence, the feature of Hill Start Assist is a vital one for cars. Toyota and Proton have offered this safety option in their sedans, while Changan and Honda haven’t installed them in their offerings. So, it means Yaris and Saga are in the lead in this category.
ABS + EBD and Brake Assist:
All four sedans come with Antilock Braking System (ABS) + Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). However, only Alsvin comes without the option of Brake Assist, while the rest of them have it.
Vehicle Stability With Traction Control:
Again, only Yaris and Saga comes with the feature of Vehicle Stability with Traction Control, making them more stable and secure cars against their competitors.
Fuel Auto Cut:
This one is a critical feature but very little talked about. This feature cuts the fuel line in case of an accident to avoid a fire. Interestingly, only Yaris offers this safety, making it the safest vehicle after an accident.
ISOFIX Child Seat:
Again, only Honda City doesn’t offer this feature, while Yaris, Alsvin and Saga come with it making these vehicles the safest for your child.
Key and Light Reminding Warning:
Not so surprisingly, all four sedans offer Key Reminding Warning and Light Reminding Warning. The former feature gives a warning if you forget your key in the car, while the latter reminds you if you have left your car lights on.
We hope that this comparison will be helpful for you while purchasing a new vehicle in the future.
Rear Parking Sensors:
This feature is only offered in Changan Alsvin and Proton Saga, while it is not offered in cars by Toyota and Honda.
To rank them :
1) Proton Saga (considering the price )
2) Toyota Yaris sedan (vios) equal to Proton Saga but expensive
3) Changan Alsvin
4) Honda city
I done this rank is about safety according the article upside.
I would rather buy either a used Toyota Corolla or Toyota Yaris than risking my money with a Proton, its parts are expensive and Toyota is quite well-known as a budget friendly car among middle income people Proton in this regard has still to claim that it can run in low maintenance budget as well as a Toyota.
As for Changan, well, it is a Chinese and I doubt it is even falling in Toyota’s league. Therefore, for myself at-least it is not an option.
