Year-on-Year Car Sales up by 48% in November

In this article, we will be presenting the car sales comparison on both Year-on-Year and Month-on-Month in Pakistan.

Car Sales in November:

The car sales have continued to show a positive trajectory in the month of November 2020. According to the latest report of Pakistan Automotive Manufacturing Association (PAMA), the sales has increased by 48% on Year-on-Year basis. All three big manufacturers i.e., Toyota Indus, Honda Atlas and Pak Suzuki, have shown growth during last month.

The latest report of PAMA shows that local companies sold 14,454 units in November 2020, against 9,789 vehicles in the same month last year. Furthermore, if we add the sales of KIA Lucky Motors, then the market showed 63% growth. It is pertinent to mention that KIA is not a member of PAMA; hence, its sales are not present in total data.

Year on Year Passenger Car Sales: 

As per the PAMA report, Indus Motor Company (IMC) recorded the largest growth of 87%. The company sold 4,942 units last month, against 2,640 in November 2019. Yaris proved to the highest seller for the company once again, as 2,338 units hit the road last month, while 1,704 units of Corolla left the showroom in same period.

Meanwhile, Honda Atlas recorded the growth of 72%, as it sold 2,237 units previous month, as compared to 1,303 vehicles in same month last year.

In Passenger cars, Honda sold 2,088 units of City and Civic, as compared to 1,074 units in November 2019.

Similarly, the growth of Pak Suzuki swelled by 16%, as the company’s sale rose from 5,846 units in November 2019, to 6,803 vehicles last month. It is pertinent to mention that this is the first year-on-year increase for Pak Suzuki during this fiscal year.

Pak Suzuki sold 1517 units of Suzuki Cultus in November 2020, against 914 in same month previous year, showing a growth of 65.9%. Meanwhile, Wagon R’s sales increased from 641 in November 2019, to 881 units during last month, with 37.44% growth.

However, the sales of Suzuki Alto showed a decline, as the company sold 2,723 units last month, as compared to 2,967 cars in November 2019, showing a drop of 8.22%.

SUVs and Jeeps: 

KIA Lucky Motors continued its dominance in this sector as the company sold around 1,500 Sportage units in November, the sources said. Meanwhile, Hyundai Tucson sold 371 units last month. Meanwhile, Toyota sold 349 units of Fortuner, as compared to 109 in same month last year. Honda Atlas sold 149 units of BR-V, against 229 in November 2019.

Overall 869 SUVs and Jeeps were sold last month, against 338 in same period last year, showing the growth of 157.1%. However, it is pertinent to mention that we have not included sales of KIA Sportage have not in this growth.

Two-Wheelers and Three-Wheelers: 

As per the report, Atlas Honda sold 108,005 bikes in November 2020, as compared to 95,009 vehicles in same month previous, showing a growth of 13.68%. Meanwhile, total 168,198 two-wheelers and three-wheelers were sold in November 2020, against 146,426 units in November 2019, showing the growth of 15%.

Trucks and Buses: 

During November 2020, a total of 570 buses and trucks left the showroom, while 725 units were sold in the same month last year, showing the decline of 21%.

Tractors: 

The tractor industry sold 3,234 units in November 2020, against 1,825 units in November 2019, showing a growth of 77.21%.  

Pickups: 

Meanwhile, 1,759 pickups were sold last month, as compared to 972 units in November 2019, showing an increase of 80%.

Month-on-Month Car Sales: 

The report shows 3% increase in car sales on a month-on-month basis. It stated that Pak Suzuki showed the growth of 12% as sales of Cultus rose to 86%, while sales of Ravi rose to 255%. Furthermore, Honda sales remained the same as October 2020, while IMC sales  were dropped by 10% in MoM basis.

Meanwhile, Hyundai recorded a growth of 75%.
