The launch of the new 2016 Honda Civic created a new level of excitement. But considering the car costs between Rs2.5 to 3 million, not many can afford one. The top of the line Civic 2016 costs almost 3 million rupees. But what if you only have half of that? Well fear not, here are five local used cars you can have in PKR1.5 million. For keeping it flexible, I will be keeping the price bracket of Ra1.4 million to Rs1.6 million as a measurement. You can always bargain your way to a nicer car. Let’s start with Honda First:
Well, first of all, you can easily buy a brand new 1.3 Honda City in PKR 1,523,000. But considering you will have to pay all sorts of taxes, and technically it does exceed the 1.5 million budget, you can instead easily get a 2014-15 Honda City at this price. 1.5 million rupees can easily get you a decent 1.3 City or even a 2012-13 1.5 City Aspire. It’s a nice looking 4-door compact sedan and considering it’s a locally assembled car, the spare parts and service are not going to be an issue. Also, it available in both manual and auto gearbox option so you can choose according to your preference. The 1.3L City i-VTEC is famous for its great fuel efficiency. The suspension is arguably a little stiff, but that is the case with almost all new Honda cars.
It was a complete jump from what Honda had previously brought in terms of the design of a car. The 8th gen Civic although had an odd shape and design, soon it made its place in people’s hearts due to its great handling and road behavior. You are spoilt for choice here. You can get almost any variant of 8th Honda Civic in this price range. The car was launched with the R18 1.8L engine and was available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Albeit the 9th gen Honda Civic wasn’t as praised as its predecessor in the international market but that didn’t dent its reputation or sales in Pakistan. It was quite loved and well received upon its arrival back in 2012. So although it’s a tight budget limit, you can find a 9th gen Honda Civic in the price range of 14 to 16 lacs. Usually, the price starts from 17 lac and above. The 9th gen, as many would know, comes with a 1.8L engine. The engine has proven itself in tough driving challenges that we have in Pakistan.
In the sedan section, Toyota has long made its rule over the segment. And Corolla is its trump card. You can’t go wrong with a Corolla. Yes, Corolla has its own set of problems, but it is an undisputed king in Pakistan’s sedan market. And in the budget of 1.5 million, you can easily find a decent looking 10th generation Corolla. Corolla is available in all sorts of engine and transmission options.
We only focused on locally assembled used cars in Pakistan here. But if you want an imported vehicle, there are a lot of both sedan and hatchback options available in 1.5 million PKR. That blog for the next time.
