Old or new, almost every car manufacturer in Pakistan is having a hard time meeting the increasing car demand in the country. Many have closed the bookings due to the slow production of their cars. Changan Pakistan has cracked a solution to come through the challenges. The company has started double-shift operations at its assembly plant to meet the rising demand for Changan cars and tackle the ON money issue.
Started from the 20th of May, the double-shift operations have:
- Increased the plant capacity from 30,000 units to 50,000 units per annum (more than 66% expansion)
- Created an additional 1,000 new jobs
Changan Pakistan already had a double shift in its cards, but the company has initiated the action earlier than planned because of one specific reason. Remember Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ‘Roshan Apni Car’ scheme for overseas Pakistanis? Yeah, that’s the occasion.
PM’s ‘Roshan Apni Car’ Scheme
The government, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), launched the ‘Roshan Apni Car’ scheme for non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) to purchase cars for their families with lower interest rates, lower registration fee and other taxes, and less waiting time for delivery.
Under this scheme, NRPs can remotely open a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) and apply for car financing through banks in Pakistan. The banks will charge them with lower interest rates, and the car companies will prioritize the delivery of their cars. Changan Pakistan has started double-shift operations to do just that. — deliver the cars of RDA customers within one month.
Changan Master Motors is reportedly partnering with banks for an effective application of the government’s RDA program.
Expressing his views on the double shift inauguration, Mr Danial Malik, CEO of Changan Master Motors said, “We are making technologically advanced vehicles accessible to every Pakistani customer – not just the rich. By increasing our production capability, we intend to make the customer win and ensure delivery as early as possible.”
