Like the engine, the tire is also an essential part of any vehicle as it is the only part which is facing the beat of the road and also the first exterior part of the vehicle to wear off if not maintained properly and correctly. Aside from its importance for vehicles, have you ever wondered why the color of the tire is always black instead of white, blue or even pink? From your regular general tyres to expensive imported tires, are all black. I have always wondered why it is black and researched thoroughly. In this article, I will tell you why the tire is always pitch black.

We discussed in the previous article that the first tires which made their debut in the world were made from wood, they were used to pull the bull carts and other stuff. And after that Dunlop was the first person who materialized the idea of rubber tires, at first, the color of the tire was white as the original color is milky white. The soot was added to it which made the color of the tire pitch black.

Soot was made of fine black particles, produced by incomplete combustion of coal or other fuels. The soot was thought to make the tire durable and resistant to heat. However, in today’s era, the tire is black due to a chemical compound is known as carbon black. The carbon black is mixed with other polymers to make the tread compound of the tire, when added to the rubber of the tire it increases not only its durability but also the life expectancy. Through this technique, tire reduces heat pressure on the car and also protect it from the dangerous UV rays and also from the ozone as these two things are considered bad for the health of tire.

Some people are also using tires of different colors made by companies, but they are not considered durable and cannot be used for daily use.
