Honda HR-V VTi S vs. Kia Sportage FWD – A Comparison

In this comparison article, we have recently launched Honda HR-V VTi S vs. veteran crossover SUV Kia Sportage Front Wheel Drive (FWD). Although HR-V is B-segment and Sportage is a C-segment crossover, we are comparing them concerning the price range. 

Dimensions

The Honda car is 171-inch long, 71-inch wide, and 63-inch high compared to Sportage’s 177-inch length, 73-inch width, and 64-inch-inch height, clearly showing that Sportage is bigger than its competitor. 

Engine and Transmission 

The crossover by Honda is launched with a 1500cc naturally aspirated engine, generating 119hp and 145Nm of torque. The transmission in this car is CVT. 

In comparison, Sportage FWD has a 2000cc naturally aspirated engine, which produces 155hp and 196Nm of torque, and is mated with 6-speed automatic transmission. So, Honda’s crossover has less power but upgraded transmission compared to its competitor. 

Exterior 

Both crossovers have LED front lamps with Day Time Running Lights (DRLs), rear LED lights, high-mounted stop lamp, fog lamps, and retractable side-view mirrors. Furthermore, both come with smart keyless entry and push-start button. 

The size of alloy rims in HR-V is 17-inch compared to 18-inch in Sportage. And Kia has installed heated side mirrors in its crossover, which are not offered in HR-V. 

Interior

The AC in both vehicles is a dual zone with rear vents. The size of MID in HR-V is a 4.2-inch analogue display compared to 3.5-inch TFT analogue display. And the infotainment touchscreen in VTi S is 9-inch with Android-based navigation against 8-inch with Android and Apple CarPlay. 

The number of speakers in VTi S is four, while Sportage comes with 6 speakers. Lastly, Sportage has a sunroof, which is not offered in HR-V. And in comparison, HR-V has a wireless charger as an extra feature. 

Safety 

The VTi S has four airbags against only two in Sportage FWD, while both have Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Hill Descent Control (HDC). The Honda car has an extra Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) feature, while the additional features in Sportage are parking and rain sensors. 

Price

The current price of the Kia Sportage FWD is Rs. 6,649,000 compared to Rs. 6,199,000 for Honda HR-V VTi S, making it almost Rs. 4 lacs cheaper than Sportage.
