Protest Against Proton Pakistan Over Late Deliveries, Price Hike
Proton Pakistan/Al-Haj Automotive customers protested against the company over late deliveries and recent price increases. The pictures and videos on social media show the buyers standing outside one of Proton’s dealerships demanding immediate delivery of cars. The protestors also rejected the recent price hike in Proton X70, which has taken the rate of:
- Proton X70 Premium FWD to Rs. 5,750,000 from Rs. 4,890,000.
- Proton X70 Executive AWD to Rs. 5,400,000 from previous Rs. Rs. 4,590,000.
As per the protestors, the company has not delivered a single unit of X70 at the old price. “I booked the car in December 2020, and delivery time was September 2021, but I haven’t received my car,” one protestor said. Meanwhile, the other consumer said he booked the car in January 2021, and his delivery time was the third quarter of the previous year, but there is no delivery yet.
They also said the number of protestors against Proton Pakistan/Al-Haj Automotive would increase in the coming days. “The company has not offered any compensation for late delivery, and we haven’t seen the car,” the protestor stated.

What Does Proton Pakistan Say?
When contacted, Proton Pakistan officials claimed that this protest is majorly focused on late deliveries instead of price hike. He further told PakWheels.com the price is “still reasonable” compared to other companies, including Kia, Changan, and MG.
The official confirmed that the company has not delivered a single unit of X70 at the old rate. And as per him, the reason is increased dollar rate, high shipping cost, and jump in raw material rates. “Plus, if there is any force majeure, you cannot do anything as it called the act of Allah,” he said.
We hope that the issue of late deliveries will resolve soon for the company as it is a new entrant and such protests will impact its reputation. In January this year, the company did roll out the first locally assembled unit of its crossover SUV Proton X70, but it hasn’t started deliveries.
Are you Proton Pakistan customer? Have you faced any delivery issues? Tell us in the comments section.
Failure before takeoff ……. a really worrisome situation for customers and need to be compensated at the earliest. Bad reputation earned by Al Hajj and Proton. Dollar hike is because of delay in delivery of vehicles and not because of customers acts. I said and advised customers earlier many times that one has to be extra careful of new entrants…….
I like Proton it is a good brand, but sure al Haj done a terrible job with deliveries, is very nice to do such action, well i just hope Al haj wake up and took seriously customers request and changing they way of doing business, otherwise they will fall.
