The current traffic scenario of Pakistan contributes a great deal to the increasing worries of a standard citizen. Considering the country’s deteriorating traffic system, poor road infrastructure and the growing number of traffic accidents we see on a daily basis, road safety has also become an alarming issue. Keeping these accidents in mind, motorcyclists must identify the need of the hour and start using good-quality components for their motorbikes.

Men, being the prime users of motorbikes should make it a priority to choose the right components for their motorbikes because, at the end of the day, they’re not only responsible for themselves, but also their loved ones. Since most people in Pakistan live below the poverty line, the most affordable mode of transportation is a motorbike and therefore, we have over 1.5 crore motorbikes present in the country.

While reckless driving may be one of the major reasons that cause motorbike accidents, substandard components definitely take lead in this aspect. Along with putting their lives at risk by using bad-quality tyres, people also tend to forget about their families and how badly an accident could affect them. Pakistan is reported to have one of the highest numbers of accidental deaths in the entire region owing mainly to not taking safety seriously. In the year 2018, almost 325,000 motorbike accidents were reported out of which 175,000 happened in Punjab alone. 1

One such campaign by Servis Tyres, targeting motorbike users, has been circulating on digital platforms recently and we would like to appreciate their efforts of highlighting the grave issue of substandard tyres that ensure zero road safety. 3 The campaign educates us to always make safety our priority instead of the price while buying motorbike tyres.

It’s about time we understand that buying cheaper tyres at the difference of a mere few rupees is not worth our lives. Investing in a good pair of quality tyres will not only be beneficial in the long run but will also ensure our own safety.

In a recent interview with Juggun Kazim on PTV Home, the Country Manager of Servis Tyres, Mohammad Ejaz explains how Servis Tyres give you up to 40% extra tyre-life which proves to be much cheaper on the whole. 2

Servis Tyres made in accordance with German Technology and European Standards, give you a powerful grip that helps avoid fatal accidents. My motorcycle came from the showroom with Servis tyres. They didn’t last a year – cracked sidewalls, multiple punctures and pathetic grip levels. German technology and European standards of manufacturing may be the case, but the materials used to make these tyres by our tyre manufacturers (Servis, General, Diamond etc) are absolutely worthless.

Or maybe they didn’t use german technology and european standards back in 2008. However, general rule of thumb – if its cheap, it’s probably not worth your money. Always get the good stuff.

    1. “Since most people in Pakistan live below the poverty line, the most affordable mode of transportation is a motorbike…” also means that “Since most people in Pakistan live below the poverty line, the most affordable spare parts at the moment are bought regardless of their quality, reliability & durability…”

    2. Honestly speaking here people do not have enough in their pocket to buy a good quality long-life tyre. They’d rather buy whatever they can afford at that moment. There is higher probability to die young by getting killed in mobile snatching so why spend on long-life spares?

    3. “Servis Tyres give you up to 40% extra tyre-life which proves to be much cheaper on the whole”. This is laboratory testing under ideal conditions whereas in real life tyres seldom get to wear out. There is so much debris on the road (that the municipality does not care to remove) that usually tyres get cut or burst due to nails, shattered glass from previous accidents etc. there is no use buying expensive tyre, it will get wasted on 3rd or 4th day then you won’t have enough money to buy new tyre even of cheaper quality.

    4. Therefore it is better to buy cheapest possible tyres so that if one gets wasted, you are able to afford to buy another one.

    5. If you put expensive spares in your car it is very easy to get highlighted in the eyes of dacoits. It is best that your even new vehicle have some small dents etc. so you appear slightly poorer than you actually are. Good condition motorcycle get snatched easily and the snatchers usually kill the biker in the process. Sadly we are down to chose is it is better to be killed in a traffic accident than to be killed as a motorcycle snatching victim?
