Sindh CM approves new buses for Karachi

Since last year lots of mega projects have been announced for the metro city of Pakistan by both Federal and Provincial Governments, while some are even finished by now. This time too, the Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, under the intra-city project, has approved PKR 195mn transportation project. The money will be used to start 32 new buses fleet on the busiest Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi.

It would be worth mentioning here that Shahrah-e-Faisal is the first phase of this project and in the second phase, new buses would opt five different routes of the Karachi.

The approval was given in a meeting held at CM house, chaired by CM Sindh himself. While giving the information regarding this project to CM Sindh, the Transport and Information Minister Syed Nasir Shah said that the government would deposit PKR 2bn in Sindh Modaraba Company and that money will be used to subsidize the project for five years.

The transport minister asserted that Daewoo had given a plan to start a 288 bus service on five different routes of Karachi, including Qayyumabad to Qasba Colony and Baldia to Quaidabad etc.

CM Murad Ali Shah directed the minister to launch a 32 bus fleet for Shahrah-e-Faisal by February 15. And also ordered to further extend the service with new buses on other routes.

Aside from the mentioned-above news, another news is also creating a buzz, and that is also from Karachi. Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has inaugurated Lyari Expressway after 15 years, making it fully functional now. The project was destined to be completed in 2003 with a cost of PKR 3bn; however, due to unforeseen reasons, the project delayed again and again. The delay in the project jacked up to PKR 23bn.
