Suzuki India Launched Compact SUV Cheaper Than Our Alto
Last week Maruti Suzuki in India launched a compact crossover SUV, Suzuki Fronx, with a starting price of INR. 7.47 lacs (PKR. 2,559,893). The Baleno-based coupe crossover debuted at Indian Auto Expo earlier this year in January 2023. The company had already started the bookings with only INR. 11,000.
Suzuki has launched the car in six variants, with the top variant costing INR. 13.14 lacs (PKR> 4,502,945). But the vital thing to remember is that the base variant of Fronx (base variant) is cheaper than all variants of Pakistani Suzuki Alto, except the base one. And the reason? A simple difference, India manufactures cars while we still assemble them, which means they make every part of the car locally. In contrast, Pakistani car companies still import the primary components of the cars.
Specs and Features of Suzuki Fronx
The car is available in six colors, i.e., Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Bluish Black, Celestial Blue, and Grandeur Grey. Also, dual-tone options, including Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Splendid Silver, are available.
Power and Transmission
The compact crossover is launched with a 1000cc Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine producing 100h and 147Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Exterior
The car shares the design elements with Maruti Suzuki’s flagship car in India, the Grand Vitara SUV, including an upright nose and split headlamp. Furthermore, it has chunkier front and rear bumpers with faux skid plates and chrome. Then comes the multi-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels.
The design of Fronx is also inspired by the Baleno hatchback in India, i.e., the rising waistline and a sloping roofline. Lastly, the car is 3,995mm long, 1,550mm high, and 1,765mm wide.
Interior
The first noticeable feature is a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen and black and brown upholstery. Then there is a multi-layered dashboard with Maruti physical controls for the HVAC system.
The top-of-the-line variant has leather-wrapped steering, a 360-camera, wireless charging, 6 airbags, and a heads-up display.
