Suzuki reportedly to launch a premium variant of Wagon R
Suzuki is looking forward to launching a new and premium variant of its popular hatchback, Suzuki Wagon R, in the Indian market.
According to the details, the premium variant of Wagon R has been spotted several times camouflaged and doing test rounds on the roads of India. Maruti Suzuki is expected to sell the premium version of Wagon R through its Nexa showrooms in India. The exterior of the vehicle was rendered recently by a digital artist of IAB that gives us a fair idea of how the premium version would look like. Have a look at the camouflaged image of the vehicle below:
The company is looking forward to upgrading its popular hatchback by adding some premium features. Currently, Wagon R is into its 3rd generation in India that was introduced at the beginning of last year. As visible in the camouflaged spy shots, the proportions of this version look identical to the regular version of Wagon R.
However, in terms of its exterior, the hatchback is expected to get a few premium additions such as split headlamp comprising of high-set bonnet mounted day-time running lights (DRLs) and lower-set of headlights. The front design of this vehicle will be much more stylish with uniquely designed upper and lower grille, front bumper, and newly positioned fog lamps. Other updates may include silver touch-ups underneath the front bumper and side-body baseline. The side looks reveal newly designed 15-inch black alloy wheels while the rear side will get LED tail lamps and high-mounted stop lamp.

In terms of its interior, there isn’t much expected from the automaker to change. However, the premium variant would have additional comfort and will offer more convenience to its customers. There are also speculations that Maruti might feature an all-black cabin and add an automatic climate control feature in the premium version of Wagon R. Nonetheless, such features will set apart the premium version from the regular one.
The most important aspect will be the engine used for the premium version of Wagon R. It’s most likely that the automaker will stick to its BS-6 compliant 4-cylinder 1.2-liter K12M petrol engine mated to a 5-speed transmission in it. Note here that this particular engine was added to the power train options of Wagon R with the launch of the latest model of Wagon R in India. It produces a maximum power of 61 kW at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. The other option being the BS-4 compliant 3-cylinder 1.0-liter K10B engine, which delivers 50 kW of maximum power at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm.
On the other hand, Pakistan is still producing the 1st generation of the Wagon R model in the local auto sector. It’s currently available in two variants, i.e. VXR and VXL. Recently, Pak Suzuki has also launched the AGS variant of Wagon R in the market. The only difference between the VXL and AGS versions of Wagon R is the type of transmission and the addition of the driver’s side airbag in the AGS version.

The Indian-based Wagon R is more power-packed with features than the one produced in Pakistan. The Indian version is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto; steering mounted voice controls, rear screen washer, and wiper, airbags, fog lamps, etc. These features are absent in the locally produced version of Wagon R in Pakistan. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is priced in India between INR 4.42-5.91 lac, which is approximately between PKR 9.55-12.77 lacs. However, Wagon R Pakistan costs between PKR 16.1-18.9 lacs.

First the images you attached is of wagonR already onsale in India, it comes with 2 engine choices and 2 transmission choices. The version seen in camouflage is dubbed to be premium version with crossover like styling. Also Suzuki will introduce WagonR EV in India but all this is not related to Pakistan, although seeing new version here will be great but it is built on newer platform which Suzuki won’t locally manufacture here. Also prices are low in India as WagonR sells more than one hindered fifty thousand units yearly which is not possible here as it increases scale and brings down cost.
It would be better if you had news of newer model coming here.
Misleading article. Images are not of the premium version. Only one image is that of premium version.
