Hyundai Elantra Variants
Elantra is now available in two variants: the old 2.0-litre Elantra GLS and the new 1.6-litre Elantra GL.
For a year, there has been a single 2.0L Elantra GLS variant against 1.6L, 1.8L Corolla, and 1.5L, 1.8L Civic variants. Finally, the company has introduced a base Elantra variant to go against the base variants of Corolla and Civic.
Competitors of 1.6L Elantra
1.6L Elantra’s direct competitors are the base variants of C-segment sedans, 1.6L Corolla, 1.5L Civic Standard, and 1.5L Civic Oriel.
However, the new Elantra variant also has a price competition with top variants of B-segment sedans, 1.5L Yaris CVT and 1.5L Aspire City.
Hyundai-Nishat launched Elantra in March 2021. According to the sales figures of PAMA, Hyundai sold 2,784 units of Elantra in a year. The new sedan has come a long way, from 46 sales in March 2021 to 357 sales in March 2022. There’s an exponential growth of 644% in just a year, with just one variant. Imagine how much Elantra’s sales will grow with another variant under its belt.
A year ago, Elantra came as a brand-new third C-segment sedan option. Before then, Pakistanis had only known two C-segment sedans, Corolla and Civic. In the beginning, many people questioned Elantra’s potential in the market. Now that the market has had a taste of the South Korean sedan, they are asking for more. And Hyundai has given it to them.
We are bringing exclusive pictures, specs and features, and a first look review of the new 1.6L Elantra. Stay tuned!
