The offer comes as the country is carrying on its fight against the deadly pandemic. According to the official statistics, Pakistan has recorded 213,470 infections so far. The data said 4,395 patients have died while 100,802 people have recovered from the virus.

PAMA Report:

Pakistan’s automobile industry is struck hard due to the ongoing pandemic. Along with other manufacturers, Honda Atlas recorded zero sales in April due to a nationwide lockdown. According to Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) Honda sold 263 Civic and City cars in May 2020 as compared to 2,564 units in May 2019.

The report further stated that the sale of Honda City and Civic plunged to 90 percent to 263 units from 2,564 cars, compared to the same period previous year.

Price Hike:

It is pertinent to mention that in May 2020, Honda Atlas increased the prices of its cars, keeping in view the increase in Forex and its impact on CKD and other parts. The Japanese automaker jacked up the prices by up to PKR 120,000. In a notification, the company said that new prices are based on the current forex rate and any further hike may lead to a another increase in prices.

The local car manufacturers are expecting an increase in sales in June as the government has eased coronavirus restrictions. After a brief shutdown, the companies opened their production plants, following SOPs issued by the federal government.

We hope that the auto industry will see a rise in sales and production soon.
