Sales of Passenger cars is up by 25pc (Jun-Oct16 vs Jun-Oct17)

Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has released the sale and production data of locally assembled automobiles for October 2017, and it looks promising. First in the list is Honda cars (Civic and City), the figure of sales of Honda cars is impressive in October while comparing to the previous month. In October the company sold 3,415 Civic and City models, while in the month of September the company sold 2,769 vehicles. It means that Honda has sold 646 excess vehicles in October—meaning the sale went up by 23.3 percent in the month of October 2017.

Furthermore, if we compare the sales of Honda (Civic and City) for October 2017 and 2016, then there is an increase of 14 percent on the MoM basis.

Now coming to Toyota, the company has shipped 4,216 Toyota Corollas in October 2017 while in the month of September Company sold 4,108 vehicles in the local market. There is an increase of 2.6 percent in the sale of Toyota Corolla while comparing the sale figures of October 2017 and September 2017. However, if we compare the increase in October 2016 and October 2017, then there is a 6.6 percent increase in sales on the MoM basis. Aside from Toyota Corolla, Suzuki sold 374 units of Swift in October 2017 and 322 in September 2017.

In the 1000cc category Suzuki WagonR did exceptionally well, the company sold 3,478 units in October and 1,652 in September 2017, it means that the company has sold 1,826 more units in the month of October—in simple terms, that is a whopping increase of 111 percent in sales in the month of October. However, there is a decline in the sale of Suzuki Cultus. The company only managed to sell 1,458 cars in October while on the other hand, it sold 1,511 units in September.

Now coming towards 800cc and below vehicles, in this category, Suzuki sold 4,355 cars in October.

All in all, the sales figure of passenger cars are impressive, the sale increased by 25.3 percent (Jun-Oct16 vs Jun-Oct17).

Moving onward, 4×4 vehicles also performed well in the local market. Toyota shipped 337 units of Fortuner in October and 257 in September 2017. The company sold 80 excess Fortuner in October. While on the other hand, Honda sold 1,091 BR-Vs in October and 660 in September 2017.

It is pertinent to mention here that Toyota is all set to launch the diesel variant of Fortuner. And it is possible that with introducing the new variant the company might be able to grab more market. Only time will tell how much good will come with Fortuner Diesel variant.
