Top Gun: Maverick has broken some box office records and is being called Tom Cruise’s best opener. The film is a masterpiece with expensive U.S. Navy jets and nail-biting action sequences. But, apart from the planes and jets, the movie also features some other attractive vehicles. From vintage cars to sporty bikes, characters of the movie cruise in vehicles of timeless class and beauty throughout Top Gun: Maverick! Here are some of our favorite picks!

1973 Porsche 911 S

This timeless classic is not driven by Tom Cruise in the movie but represents the character of his love interest, Penny (Jennifer Connelly). The 1973 Porsche 911 S has a long nose and a slim bumper. The slanting shape of the car, coupled with a bold design, gives it a unique look.

The director chose this car for Penny’s character because of her love for sailing. “Penny sails fast boats, so I liked the idea that she drove a vintage Porsche as well,” director Joseph Kosinski told Bloomberg Businessweek. “I think the 1973 911 S model is one of their most timeless designs.”

Aston Martin DBR1

Tom Cruise’s character Maverick also seems to own an Aston Martin DBR1. Although he isn’t shown driving this car, it is shown parked in his garage. The car is an elegantly designed, vintage sports car. It was built in 1958 for sports car races at the time. Over time, it became a timeless automobile due to its speed, design, and popularity.

The director of the movie, Joseph Kosinski, chose not to show this car being driven in the film due to its worth.

Ford 1st Gen Ford Bronco

This laid-back beautiful car appears in the movie in the introduction scene of Rooster’s character.  The car sails through the sandy beaches of Fallon, Nevada, and represents the easy-going personality of Rooster.  The Bronco is a classic yet cool off-roader and adds to Rooster’s personality despite being shown for a few seconds.

1986 Kawasaki Ninja GPZ900R

One way to connect the sequel with the first film is to use the same props. Cruise did that by reprising the role of the 1986 Kawasaki Ninja GPZ900R in Top Gun: Maverick! Tom Cruise had ridden the bike in the original Top Gun movie in the iconic scene of a jet flying off beside it. This scene brought a shift in how people thought about fast bikes.

The Ninja GPZ was a predecessor of modern sports bikes and was the fastest bike of its time. Its appearance in Top Gun further led to its popularity among the masses. In Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise pulls back a tarp to reveal the beloved Ninja GPZ and takes the viewers back to the original film.

Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon

Kawasaki Ninja H2 Carbon is now what the Ninja GPZ was in its own time. It is one of the fastest bikes with a mesmerizing design and outstanding performance. The director of Top Gun: Maverick recreated the scene where Maverick is apparently racing a jet on his bike. In the sequel, he replaced the Ninja GPZ with Ninja H2 Carbon.
