Ignoring cat eyes can damage your car tyres

Tires are one of the most crucial parts of any vehicle, so it should be maintained and checked after an equal interval, especially when they get old, to avoid any chaotic situation. In this article, I will tell you guys only one tip which if one opt can easily prevent a tire burst.

Many times a tire bursts due to coming in contact with cat’s eyes (cat eyes), so always remember to avoid them on roads, especially while going at high speed as when the tire comes into contact with these small reflective metallic brick at higher speed, the chance of a tire burst is huge. It is pertinent to mention here that almost 75 to 90 percent tire-bursts occur due to the tire hitting the cat eyes. Usually in Pakistan cat eye is installed on roads are made up of steel, which is quite dangerous. Many concerned Pakistanis have moved a lot of applications to NHA to replace the steel cat eyes with rubber ones, however, no action has been taken yet.

Moreover, if the car you are driving comprises of old tires, then the risk of tire burst is even higher so remember this; don’t over-speed and avoid cat eye on roads to avoid the harsh situation, which might also lead to death.

The purpose of writing this article was to let people know about the dangers of driving on cat eyes. The latest casualty being General (retd) Khalid Shameem Wynne, the 14th chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) and his friend who lost their lives due to a tire blowout.

Till now no concrete evidence has been given by authorities as to why the tire exploded; however, it is safe to assume that the car when came into contact with the cat eyes at high speed got burst and toppled the vehicle. So always remember to ditch Cat Eyes if you value your life.
