Bikers to travel on extreme left lane on Canal Road

In a bid to curb traffic congestion on Canal Road, Lahore Traffic Police has directed bike riders to use the extreme left lane.

According to the details, the authority from 1st February 2019 will go after bikers who use other lanes while making their way through Canal Road. Heavy fines will be issued to violators, said a police official.

While talking to the local media, SP Traffic Police, Asif Sadeeq, said that police would make sure that all citizens follow the law. The local bike riders, however, were divided on the effectiveness of this new policy.

Moreover, the traffic police have announced harsh penalties for those using illegal or fancy number plates on their vehicles after 1st February 2019. Citizens must use the number plates issued by Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department, Government of Punjab, to avoid getting into any kind of trouble, the authority asserted.

Furthermore, the City Traffic Police Lahore has also decided to take action against the use of HID lights in vehicles. Note here that the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore has declared the use of HID lights illegal owing to their visibility issues.

In related news, the authority has issued 492,745 challans to bikers for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle.
