The year 2018 is going to be a one great year for the automobile industry as many new vehicles would be introduced by local companies, one such treat for Pakistanis is Toyota Fortuner diesel variant. The company is all set to launch all-new diesel Fortuner today, PakWheels.com has been reporting it for a long time and at last the time has arrived.
According to the details available to us, IMC is shipping the Toyota diesel Fortuner with many options and features. New Fortuner houses a 1GD-FTV (Hi) 2.8-litre diesel engine—Toyota’s more modern version of engine line. Moreover, the vehicle makes (130 KW) 174 horsepower at 3400 rpm, in simple terms it’s great. Additionally, the engine produces 450Nm of torque at 1600-2400 rpm.
Toyota has embedded intercooler in the engine, which will increase its efficiency. Furthermore, the common rail direct fuel injection system is used in the vehicle, this type of fuel injection system is developed specially for diesel engines. Toyota IMC has equipped the diesel Fortuner with push start and also with a keyless entry, which is indeed promising.
It is to be noted here that Toyota IMC shortly will also be launching 2018 Petrol Fortuner with some major changes as well. Few of the major changes are that the company will ship it in only 2WD mode and with push start and keyless entry options.
The other new feature which the company is introducing in diesel Fortuner is Power Back Door—in simple terms, back door can be automatically opened and closed with a simple press of a button. The color of side-step has been changed in the new Fortuner, this time the company has put a silver colour side-step, and in the petrol variant, it is black. Diesel Fortuner is also fortified with welcome lamps as well.
As far as the safety features are concerned the company has embedded its 4×4 vehicle with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Emergency Brake Signal (EBS), Light Reminder, and Engine Oil levelling Warning light to make sure that the driver and passengers sitting in the car don’t face any kind of inconvenience. Moreover, the lamps are installed as a door courtesy, in the petrol variant reflectors are embedded.
The new vehicle also comprises of Downhill Assist Control (DAC), the function automatically maintains low vehicle speed while driving down a steep slope by controlling the brake fluid pressure, an extra perk for people who love off-roading and who travel a lot to hilly places.
Moving onwards, the all-new 4×4 Fortuner has two different modes, which are Eco and Power modes, one can easily select the modes with a push of a button. The new vehicle is priced at PKR 5.89 million (ex-factory).

About time. The 2TR-FE engine is hopelessly underpowered when it comes to torque, especially when driving such a heavy car.
The 1GD-FTV generates much more torque at lower RPM, and should be much less strained driving this vehicle.
Considering Pakistan uses Euro-II standards, it’s likely the engine will ship without a DPF in Pakistan…
