Daehan Shehzore, JAC X200, and Hyundai H-100 to lock horns
2018 is destined to be a good year for the automobile industry, as local manufacturers are set to introduce new vehicles in the country to attract more consumers. The competition in pickup segment has already started as many local automakers have already launched their pickup trucks in the market. Ghandhara Nissan, Dewan-Daehan and Hyundai-Nishat are competing in this segment.

One of the essential factors why companies have introduced their pickups is to take the advantage from China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to maximise their profits, sales and to capture pickup segment as much as they can. CPEC is considered to be the game changer for all of South Asia.
Dewan-Daehan Motors launched all-new Daehan Shehzore pickup in the local market at the end of March. The vehicle is equipped with 2600cc naturally aspirated 4-cylinder SOHC 8-valve diesel injection engine. The motor produces 79 horsepower at 4000rpm and 166.7Nm of torque at 2200rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The dimensions of the pickup are 5145mm x 1740mm x 2020mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2720mm. The bed is 3100mm long (10.12 feet)
Daehan Shehzore is priced at PKR 1,849,000.
Ghandhara Nissan was importing JAC X200 for last six months. But to give competition to other manufacturers, the company has started assembling the vehicle locally. The first Roll Off ceremony of the locally assembled X200 held 0n 4th April 2018 at Ghandhara Nissan Truck Plant.
The pickup has a 2771cc diesel engine that produces 76hp at 3600 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 2000-2200 rpm. Moreover, the dimensions of the truck are 4840 mm, 1750 mm, and 2040 mm (length x width x height) and have a wheelbase of 2470 mm.
Jac X200 has 9.2 ft deck length with 1150 kg payload capacity. The vehicle is priced at around Rs 1.6 million.
Hyundai-Nishat has been awarded the Greenfield investment status by the government. And the company is all geared up to launch new vehicles in the country. In the near future, the company is launching its pickup namely H-100 in the Pakistani market. As per the technical aspects of the vehicles are concerned, it is coming with the 2600cc engine same as Daehan Shehzore, as both the companies are using Hyundai’s engine. So, the torque and the horsepower of the vehicle are the same as Daehan Shehzore.
Moving onward, the dimensions of the H-100 pickup truck are (4850 x 1630 x 1970) L x W x H (mm). And it has a wheelbase of 2430mm. The price of the vehicle is not yet revealed by the company.
In this article, we have covered new pickups having engine capacity above 2500cc; however, there are also few loaders which have below 2500cc, but are considered good by many such as Suzuki Mega Carry which houses 1.5 litre SOHC 16 Valves Engine coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The dimensions of the vehicle are 4405mm x 1750mm x 1865mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2625mm. Mega Carry is the price at PKR 1,499,000.
