Volkswagen to Recall 1.82 Million Cars in China
Volkswagen hasn’t exactly seen the best of years recently with it still having to face the effect of the Dieselgate crisis to this date. The automotive giant has just had another major setback as well as vehicles made by Volkswagen and Chinese partners SAIC and FAW have announced that they are recalling over 1.8 million vehicles sold in china due to an electronics failure in the fuel pump which can cause the engine to stall. Volkswagen has announced that they will be replacing fuel pump controls modules free of cost starting in December of this year.

This recall applies to all FAW-VW Magotan cars made between 2007 to 2014, all Volkswagen CC produced between 2009 to 2014 by FAW-Volkswagen and the Volkswagen Passat made between 2011 to 2015 by SAIC Volkswagen. This recall also effects around 19,000 models that were imported into China. This recall comes around the same time as Volkswagen announced a recall in the US of around 281,000 vehicles due to a similar problem with the fuel pump in those models are well.
This is just another addition to VW’s recent record of embarrassments following Dieselgate. In March of this year the company recalled 680,000 Audi cars that had defects in coolant pumps which could lead to engine fires, in May FAW-Volkswagen recalled 580,000 VW Golf and Sagitar cars because of a headlight fuse defect. The company has already seen a great financial drain since they announced they would set aside nearly $25 billion to cover all the fines, penalties and compensations they would face following the emissions scandal.
