After a huge success in its previous models, the 3rd generation of Suzuki Wagon R is all set to be launched in India on 23rd January 2019.

Maruti Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the all-new model of Wagon R across the country. The 3rd generation of Wagon R is expected to receive a record-breaking response in the automobile market of India due to its overwhelming sales over the years. Customers have the option to make a booking for the new model by paying INR 11,000 at any authorized dealer network across India. The booking can be made through the online procedure as well. A number of additional features in the 2019 model has made it quite a significant unit considering the competition it faces in the automobile market. Maruti Suzuki will be launching the 3rd generation of Wagon R with an all-new 1.2L (1197cc) engine which will deliver powerful and economic performance. Wagon R is already equipped with an advanced K-series engine that offers high fuel efficiency and brilliantly silent driving experience in its range of hatchbacks. However, along with this 1.2L engine, the automaker has left a choice for the customers to buy the new Wagon R in 1.0L (998cc) engine as well. The 3-cylinder 1.0L engine produces 67 bhp with a maximum torque of 90 Nm. However, the 1.2L engine is a 4-cylinder hatchback producing 82 bhp with a maximum torque of 113 Nm.

What makes the launch of new Wagon R stand out, is the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology that Maruti Suzuki will be offering for the very first time in this hatchback. The two pedal driving experience would make the model even more popular among the masses and accelerate the sales to even greater heights. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki is offering the most innovative SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system in the new and rejuvenated model of Wagon R. In addition to this, the new model will keep the shape of a tall boy design but will have much more blunt language design as compared to its previous models. The exterior is expected to get some curves for an improved aerodynamic body. The Indian bound top of the line version will also come with premium features such as LED tail lamps and alloy wheels. The top spec variant is also expected to get an inbuilt navigation system along with a rear parking sensor and a rear view parking camera.

In accordance with the offered engine capacity, Wagon R will be available in three variants Lxi, Vxi, and Zxi. The model with 1.2L engine technology will be available in Lxi, Vxi/Vxi AGS variants whereas the 1.0L engine model will comprise Vxi, Vxi AGS, Zxi/Zxi AGS variants. The superior range of these variants will now offer more choice to the customers under the same unit. The Indian version of Suzuki Wagon R will come in six colours such as Pearl Nutmeg Brown, Pearl Autumn Orange, Pearl Poolside Blue, Magma Grey, Silky Silver, and Superior White. The model is already open for bookings and will make its public debut on 23rd January 2019 in India with an expected price of INR 4-5 Lacs.

Pakistani based Wagon R

The 2nd generation of Wagon R was introduced in India back in 2010, which was also equipped with a  998cc 5-speed manual transmission producing 68 bhp with a chain of safety features such as keyless entry, cruise control, and GPS navigation. The Indian based model was also available in the automatic variant. On the other hand, Pak Suzuki launched Wagon R initially in Pakistan in 2014, which lacks basic safety and luxury features even now in 2019. The hatchback still comes with front power windows in its top-spec model without any sort of cruise control, built-in GPS navigation system, ABS, or SRS airbags that ensure the safety of passengers. Suzuki introduced the facelift model of Wagon R that included just the addition of alloy rims and a chrome tail garnish in its top of the line variant VXL. The model produced in Pakistan has no match with the one currently being produced in India that leaves a huge lag in the technology between the neighbouring countries. There are also no signs of the introduction of an automatic version of the popular Wagon R in Pakistan.
