Will United Alpha Level Up To Its Competitors?
Pakistani 1000cc hatchback segment has a number of potential competitors. From Suzuki Wagon R to Cultus and Kia Picanto, each one has its own appeal for the buyers. After its recent launch on 2nd of January, United Alpha has become another affordable hatchback in Pakistan. But will this 1000cc United hatchback stand the test against its existing competition? What are the odds? Let’s find out.
Player 1: Suzuki Wagon R
Suzuki Wagon R is a tall boy car with a 998cc 3-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission. This hatchback falls in the category of economical and quieter Suzuki engines. With fuel economy of 14km per liter (urban), this Suzuki hatchback is a popular choice in Pakistan, since its initial launch in 2014.
The latest model, Suzuki Wagon R 2021, is available in three variants: VXR, VXL, and AGS. All three cost between Rs. 1.6 and 1.9 million in Pakistan.
Player 2: Suzuki Cultus
Suzuki Cultus is another compact hatchback in Pakistan by Suzuki Motors. This one also comes with a 998cc 3-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission. Cultus is capable of covering 18-19 km/L in the city. Being launched in 2017, Cultus 2nd generation is a comparatively newer addition in Pakistani hatchback segment than Wagon R.
The latest model, Suzuki Cultus 2021, is available in three variants: VXR, VXL, and AGS. All three cost between Rs. 1.7 and 2.0 million in Pakistan.
Player 3: Kia Picanto
Kia Picanto is an international hatchback by the South Korean manufacturer Kia. This one also has a 998cc 3-cylinder engine, but the Picanto engine is more refined than Wagon R and Cultus. Mileage of a Kia Picanto is between 18 – 20 km/L.
The car is available in Pakistan in two variants: manual transmission (MT) and automatic transmission (AT). The current prices of Kia Picanto are Rs. 1.9 million for the MT variant and 2.0 million for the AT variant.
Player 4: United Alpha
United Alpha 2021 is coming after the above hatchbacks with a 993cc 4-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission. The car has promising features of power steering, power windows, 13-inch alloy wheels, LCD camera, and reverse camera.
United Motors has launched the manual variant of this car in Pakistan on the 2nd of January 2021. The company has tagged the Alpha with price a little lower than its competitors, i.e., Rs. 1.395 million.
