Changan Motors to launch two new pickups

The auto policy 2016-21, which was introduced by the previous government, is performing effectively as many new automakers have successfully brought their vehicles into the country such as Kia, Dewan-Daehan, etc. Now Master Motors in collaboration with its Chinese partner Changan Motors is all set to launch two new Changan pickups namely M8 and M9 on 15 September 2018.

Master Motors has also been awarded Greenfield investment by the government. While talking to PakWheels.com, CEO, Danial Malik expressed that he is hopeful that these products will do well in the industry.

Now coming to the products, the first in the line is M8. The pickup is equipped with 999cc inline 4 cylinders mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission that makes 68 hp @ 6000 rpm and 92 Nm of torque @ 4800 rpm.

The body dimensions of the vehicle are as follow:

  • Length: 4080 mm
  • Width:  1485 mm
  • Height: 1810 mm

The wheelbase of the M8 is 2500 mm, and the payload capacity is 820 kg.

Deck dimensions of the vehicle are as mentioned below:

  • Length: 2500  mm
  • Width:  1400 mm
  • Height: 370 mm

It is expected that M8 will be priced at around PKR 850,000. M8 will be competing against the FAW Carrier Standard and the upcoming 1000cc Punjnad pickup, which is soon to be launched by United Autos. See picture and other technical specifications of the vehicle below:

M9 is another pickup/loader, which the company is launching with M8. The vehicle comes with the same engine as M8, which is 999cc in-line 4 cylinder. It is mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission (final gear ratio 5.286) that makes 68 hp @ 6000 rpm and 92 Nm of torque @ 4800 rpm.

As far as the dimensions are concerned M9’s length, width and height are little over to that of M8. The dimensions of M9 are as follow:

  • Length: 4560 (length is 480 mm longer than M8)
  • Width:  1645 (The vehicle is 160 mm wider than M8)
  • Height: 1890 (The vehicle’s height is 80 mm taller than M8)

Lastly, the wheelbase of M9 is 2900 mm, while M8 has a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The payload capacity of the M9 pickup is 1000 kg. Deck dimensions of the vehicle are as mentioned below:

  • Length: 2750  mm
  • Width:  1520 mm
  • Height: 370 mm
