Honda Pakistan teased about a new vehicle and as guessed by one of our bloggers, it has turned out to be the new 2018 Honda CR-V. The new car is a CBU and is similar to what Honda Indonesia offers in its country.
CR-V was classified as compact crossover till few generation ago, but it has grown over the years and now can be placed in small sports utility vehicles category “SUV”. CR-V as stands for Compact Recreational Vehicle [it’s no more compact] and started production back in 1995 as the first generation. CR-V is a very important model for Honda, and in the US in particular and it can be judged from the fact that, ever since its launch in 1997, Honda has sold around 4 million units of CR-V in the United States alone. Honda sold an average of 300,000 units or more a year of the 4th generation.
And as expected, Honda Atlas chose to launch the 2.0L naturally aspirated engine instead of the 1.5L turbo variant that was present in the Turbo Civic in Pakistan. The engine in the new 2018 Honda CR-V is an inline-4, i-VTEC, single overhead cam, 16-valve unit that makes 113 kW (around 150 BHP). The engine powers front two wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Talking about the suspension setup, new CR-V 2018 comes with McPherson struts in the front and independent multi-link in the rear. The 17-inch alloys wheels come wrapped with 235/65 tires. The 2018 Honda CR-V has ventilated disks in the front and the back.
Talking about the interior, you get paddle shifters, electronically adjustable and heated driver (8-way) and passenger (4 way) seats. Seats are leather. The new Honda compact SUV comes with as many as eight speakers (four in the front, two in the rear and two tweeters). The car also has dual zone climate control with rear ventilation. These are just a few of the most apparent features you will find in the new CR-V. The car is actually loaded with all sorts of features and equipment; from luxury to safety.
Some of the safety features include ABS, EBD, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), HSA (Hill Start Assist), etc.
But all these features and luxuries come at a major price tag of PKR 9,500,000 (ex-factory). That is a lot of money considering there are cars like Toyota Fortuner and various used imports available in Pakistan.
