Petrol prices in the country are likely to surge by PKR 6.30 from the next month, reports a local media outlet.
While announcing the amendments in the current budget 2018-19, the Finance Minister, Asad Umar, hinted that in case of an increase in the dollar rate, the petrol prices would go up by 20 rupees. And it seems that in reality, the prices are likely to go up.
Apart from the hike in the prices of petrol, it is being reported that the rates of high-speed diesel might soar by PKR 8.50 per liter, kerosene oil by PKR 10, and light-speed diesel by PKR 4 per liter. Let’s wait and see if the government hikes the prices or not.

The Finance Minister also announced to cancel the order to increase Petroleum Development Levy on petroleum products, which was imposed by the previous government.
Previously, the current government has slashed prices of petroleum products by up to PKR 6, with an aim to give relief to the general public. The current oil prices are as follow:
