Remember, Pak Suzuki has already announced to discontinue the most selling hatchback of Pakistan, Suzuki Mehran from April 2019. Mehran, by the way, was considered one of the very few affordable cars for Pakistan’s bulging middle-class. In the absence of Mehran, therefore, the news of the arrival of United Bravo has been received with much enthusiasm. Peoples enthusiasm aside, the car’s performance and build quality remains a debatable topic for many.

The joint venture of Regal Automobiles and DFSK Group of China, Prince, is all set to launch Prince Pearl Rex7 in the local auto industry. The original manufacturer just like Bravo is a Chinese company, so people are a bit skeptical about the new product, but, still, at least there is something new in the local auto industry and that too a hatchback. Only time will tell how good the product is.

It is imperative to mention here that the car is expected to be on the road in the first half of this year with an expected price tag of around Rs.7 lacs to 7.5 lacs. As Bravo is being sold at Rs.895,000 (ex-factory), it will give tough competition to the car.

As mentioned above, the car will come equipped with 800cc engine coupled with both auto and manual transmissions that make 40 hp at 5500 rpm and 60.5 Nm of torque at 3500-4500 rpm. The company is launching the car in two different variants; manual and automatic.

Moreover, as per our source, the compact hatchback has all the bells and whistles which a modern budget car nowadays is equipped with, such as power windows, central locking, latest LCD, power steering, etc. If compared to Mehran, this car has power windows while Mehran doesn’t. Even the 1000cc Wagon R VXR doesn’t come equipped with power window option and the other variant VXL has power window option but in front doors only.

In my opinion…, Pakistani car buyers need to upscale their standards & get outta Mehran dilemma & Toyo-Honda phobia. These manufacturers are using China made parts abundantly in their vehicles. The government is also responsible for not defining and setting any vehicular standards, which can bring safer & better equipped vehicles on the roads of our beloved country. Fortunately there are new players coming in the market to deliver their best… Prince, United, Kia, Hyundia, Nissan-Datsun, VW etc… who knows Price could be the King of 800cc segment. So, hope for the best as the future is bright.

The trio of Suzuki, Toyota and Honda has been on the rampage of fleecing money by providing sub-standard vehicles. Not only that, they have made commitments that Pakistan manufactured vehicles cannot be exported, thereby limiting the market and production, and thus increasing the cost of production. I am witness to free gifts handed over to Minister of Industries by one of these 3 brands on its launching.
This is how they keep the govt authorities into their pockets.
So, best of luck to all the new brands, like Prince!
