Video: Watch 2016 Honda Civic “Honda Sensing” Active Safety Features Demonstration
10th Generation Civic has created a worldwide buzz since its arrival back in September 2015. Although it’s available for sale in the United States and Canada since November 2015, any other Civic market including Pakistan is still on the waiting list. I had an opportunity to see the car in depth and had a test drive which helped me pen down “A Detailed Review”. The new Civic 2016 is truly miles ahead not only from its previous generation (2012 Honda Civic) but also from the other economy cars in the “C” segment. It can easily be judged from the fact that the new 2016 Honda Civic won the prestigious “North American Car Of The Year 2016” at recently concluded Detroit Auto Show. The 10th generation Civic has improved on many fronts, from exterior to interior, engine, transmission, suspension, materials fit and finish. Apart from all this, the new Civic is one of the safest cars on the roads. Honda improved not only the passive safety design and systems but also for the first time it is equipped with a long list of active safety features.
According to Honda, the new car is based on an advanced compatibility engineering (ACE) body structure that has a new crash stroke design. The frame rails are created and fixed in a manner that they plunge downwards in a front head-on collision. In high-speed collisions, this technique will decrease the risk of engine thrusting into the passenger cabin. The new frame is about 30kgs less than the prior generation but has 25% more torsional rigidity. High-strength steel is used in major crash zones while there will be a single piece sub-frame in the rear as well as delicate frame areas to absorb the collision force. Civic is equipped with front passenger and driver airbags, side airbags with rollover sensors and also rear airbags as standard along with side impact beams. Honda has been declared “TOP SAFETY PICK+” by “Insurance Institute For Highway Safety” after conducting the crash tests. To pass for the 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a car must earn good numbers in the minor overlap front, medium overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests, as well as an advanced or excellent rating for front crash prevention. A Detailed Test Report is available.
The new Civic comes with some excellent active safety features and known as ”Honda Sensing.” Buyers can add this package to any trim level while its standard feature on fully loaded Touring trim. Adaptive Cruse Control “ACC” lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, road-departure mitigation, are part of this package. For an extra cost of only $1000, The Honda sensing package can be added to any trim level which is really cheap comparing the price of such features available on luxury cars. Honda recently released some animated videos to demonstrate these active safety features. Please scroll down to watch a video. [Please click HD for high-resolution video].
We are not sure what we will see from Atlas Honda as far as the new Civic. There are a lot of rumors on Social Media and its talk of the town. We have no idea what engine, transmission or other features we will see in our local Civic. Comparing the previous generations one thing is clear, Pakistani Honda enthusiasts always got a stripped down version. I hope this does not happen this time.

In pakistan the only safety feature wud be abs…and safar ki dua
My dear friend you are talking about the international version or American version……PAKISTANI VERSION WILL BE STRIPED DOWN TO MINIMUM…..although HONDA PAKISTAN IS STILL MUCH BETTER THAN TOYOTA INDUS.
yes.. If you read the last paragraph. your fear and thoughts are exactly right there ..
Readers please think before you get ready to pay all that money for the “non-stripped down” version.
Most of the newly introduced features rely on lane markings to work. In Pakistan, lane markings are not present.
Also, these features will work in a certain speed range, in Pakistan, those speed ranges (mentioned in the video) are seldom encountered. It is much much slower.
Conclusion of my comment is that if the car can become 3-4 lakh cheaper by removing these latest safety features, it should definitely be made more affordable. Otherwise those (active) safety features will be useless and since the car would be 3-4 expensive, many people could not afford it and will be forced to buy other makes which would lack even the passive safety features, so overall it would be a win-win situation if these new, “active safety” features were removed.
