A post on social media is currently circulating, which states that Toyota Indus Motors has started pre-booking of Corolla Cross in Pakistan. According to the post, the company is launching this car in December 2020 at Rs6.8million.
But the news is fake.
Corolla Cross Not Coming To Pakistan Any Time Soon:
After a brief dig-in, PakWheels has found that Corolla Cross is not coming to Pakistan in the near future. Talking to us, one of the Toyota dealerships in Lahore said that the company has no current plan of launching this car. “This is fake news on social media, as there is no pre-booking going on for Corolla Cross,” the dealership said.
He further said that there is no price reveal or features detail of the car as yet. Another dealership of Toyota in Lahore also confirmed that Cross is not coming to Pakistan anytime soon.
So, we want to tell our readers to stay safe and don’t fall for such fraud advertisements. Always do your research and contact the company’s authorized dealership before paying advance payment for any new vehicle.
Not the First Time:
This is not the first time that such fake news has spread in local market. Back in June 2020, a same story started to circulate about Hyundai Tucson. Another such instance occurred when the proprietor of Toyota Gujranwala Motors gathered funds from customers to book new vehicles and fled the country.
That became one of the biggest looting fraud in the modern automobile history of Pakistan. Therefore, make sure you book the vehicle with the company through an authorized dealership to protect yourself from fraud. Always make a pay order in the name of the company.
Corolla Cross Features:
According to reports, Toyota will install the latest TNGA architecture in Cross. The Japanese automaker will launch it as a more practical alternative to the C-HR crossover.
The reports further suggested that Cross will have 4,460mm length, 1,615mm height, and 1,825mm width. The car will have 2,700mm wheelbase, the same as a regular corolla car by the company. The Cross will have the same power and set of engines as standard Corolla Sedan, including 1.8L & 2.0L. The vehicle will also come in conventional aspirated, turbocharge, and hybrid shapes.
