We heard the name Peugeot 2008 back in February when Lucky Motors imported this SUV for trials and testing. The company had plans to launch it as Pakistan’s first French car. But then, the car got out of sight, and there were no updates. Fast forward to August; the SUV has been seen in vibrant camouflage on the roads of Karachi. Does that mean the launch of Peugeot 2008 in Pakistan is back in the cards?
It’s the same Peugeot 2008 unit in Flame Orange color that the company imported early this year. The difference is now it’s all dressed in a camouflage wrap. Here is how it looked that time vs this time.
Future of Peugeot 2008 in Pakistan
Peugeot 2008 is a B-segment subcompact crossover SUV in its second generation that debuted in June 2019. The SUV comes with a 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.
Internationally, this crossover has seen a lot of success. In fact, it’s Peugeot’s second best-selling model in the French market. The car has everything to earn a place in the Pakistani market — a powerful engine, striking looks, and modern features. It might need a new name for our desi consumers, that’s all.
Peugeot 2008 is not the only B-segment crossover coming to Pakistan. There are others like KIA Stonic, DFSK Glory 500, and Proton X50. We already have MG ZS in this segment. The competition is getting more and more heated, and we love it.
Now, it’s up to Lucky Motors how they sell it to the Pakistani buyers. Since Lucky Motors has taken over the local market with KIA Sportage, looks like the French SUV is in good hands.
We are excited to see how things go with Peugeot 2008. We’ll find out more about the launch date and expected price of the first French SUV in Pakistan and keep you posted. Stay tuned!
Boycott Peugeot, boycott french product, France keep insulting Islam.
And keep in mind this one isn’t an suv (no awd system), take a look at the engine size a 1.2L 3 cylinder engine is underpowered, downsized, and durability with this car is poor.
Just to remind you undersized engine got more stress in usage therefore the engine is submitted to short lifetime.
